Day 1 / Taipei – Jiufen

Our journey begins with a scenic drive to Jiufen, a charming hillside town known for its nostalgic atmosphere and breathtaking mountain-sea views. Once a prosperous gold-mining town, Jiufen is now famous for its red lantern-lit alleys, tea houses, and stair-stepped streets that inspired scenes in the beloved animation Spirited Away. As the sun sets and mist rolls in from the ocean, Jiufen reveals a mystical charm that captures the imagination. Spend the night soaking in this dreamlike setting and discover the town’s unique blend of history, folklore, and scenic beauty.

Day 2 / Jiufen – Hsinchu – Taichung

After breakfast in Jiufen, we begin our westward journey toward Taichung, stopping en route in Hsinchu, a city rich in cultural heritage. Our main stop is the Chenghuang Temple, built in 1748, which served as a spiritual center even before most government institutions were established in northern Taiwan. This historic temple also survived religious purges during the Japanese era, making it a rare architectural gem. Just across the street, explore Shinzhou House (OR house), a 1930s department store turned creative space that now blends vintage charm with modern flair. After enjoying some local

Day 3 / Sun Moon Lake - Alishan

Day three is all about mountains as we head from Sun Moon Lake to another mountainous Alishan. After seeing the various beauty of Sun Moon Lake in the morning, we'll visit Zhushan to experience the traditional tea-making procedure on the way to Alishan, where we'll hike among the clouds through the verdant forests.

Day 4 / Alishan - Kaohsiung

In the morning, may get up early and hop on the Alishan Forest Railway to catch a glimpse of the area’s famed “sea of clouds” that appear in the hours around dawn. Afterward, we’ll head to Kaohsiung, Taiwan’s southernmost city, where we’ll spend the rest of the morning exploring the country’s largest Buddhist monastery. That evening, you’ll have the option of enjoying some street foods at the night market.

Day 5 / Kaohsiung - Pintung - Taitung

Starting with reaching Taiwan's southernmost city to take a look at the eco-friendly cocoa farm in the morning. Then we will drive through Taiwan's banana belt to hit the pretty east coast town of Taitung. It's time to head to the beautiful East Coast with its natural ecology and indigenous culture. After checking in at the hotel, take your time to relax in the famous Chihpen hot spring.

Day 6 / Taitung - Hualien

We’ll spend the sixth day exploring the landscapes considered by some as Taiwan’s most beautiful, driving through the island’s scenic Rift Valley. In addition to being where two tectonic plates meet, it’s also where Taiwan’s best rice is grown. We’ll stop at the Tropic of Cancer marker, visit a Japanese colonial-era sugar factory that’s been converted to ice-cream production, and have a wonderful time in general surrounded by bucolic splendor before reaching the coastal city of Hualien.

Day 7 / Hualien

On the seventh day of our tour in Hualien, you will enjoy paddle boating on scenic Liyu Lake, and magnificent oceanfront scenery, absorb the poetic and nature-filled Pine Garden Heritage site, and end your day with amazing food made by Michelin chef.

Day 8 / Hualien - Taipei

On the final day, we will visit Yilan, a region full of Taiwanese warmth and hospitality. We will tour a tea plantation, experience the tea-making process, and finally, enjoy tasting the tea we’ve worked hard to create. After the experience, we will head back to Taipei with the delightful aroma of tea accompanying us on the journey.

I had a great experience with MyTaiwanTour
Overall, we (mother and I) had a great experience. We did the 8 day, 7 nights private tour around the entirety of Taiwan. MyTaiwan tour was able to get us 5-star hotels for the 7 nights we spent with them. Our tour guide Bill was extremely friendly and provided overall a great experience. If we had the choice to repeat our adventure with them or do other Taiwan adventures with them, we would.
