This tour takes us down Taiwan’s magnificent Northeastern coast with a few interesting stops along the way before bringing us into Taroko Gorge National Park. An early evening’s hike close to the park’s entrance leads to a riverside BBQ (including fresh river shrimp, which you’ll catch yourself). We’ll take the next day to explore the gorge more fully by road and foot, visiting some of the shrines, temples, caves and waterfalls that make this most dramatic landscape even more magical. We’ll take our time hiking along breathtaking trails and dipping our feet in the river before heading back up the coast and returning to Taipei. Taroko Gorge has drawn travelers from near and far for decades. After our visit, you’ll know why. Please note: **Shrimp catching and BBQ might be changed to shrimp fishing and Taiwanese cuisine dinner if the weather or river condition is not allowed to do the activities.**

My favorite tour from my recent trip
This was hands down my favorite tour from my recent trip. Taroko Gorge is an out of the world landscape that is an absolute must see if you're visiting Taiwan. I won't try to describe the gorge because even pictures can't capture it so I'll focus on the tour itself. The entire thing ran like a well oiled machine. Our tour guide in Hualien (I feel bad that I've forgotten her name) was a great character who kept the group moving with high energy. If I had seen the tour on paper and saw how many ti- 1

Lots of good walks and hikes.
Been here for the 4th time and 3rd year in a row. Taroko has a lot of stunning views and scenery. Lots of good walks and hikes. The best hike is the "Old Jhuilu Road" hike, a hike you can enter from the Swallow Grotto green suspension bridge. You need to get written permission from the National Park agency and the police in advance, so go to the park's website for details. This hike offers stunning views, especially the cliff section where the path is less than a metre wide with a 200-300 metre drop but don't worry, it's all pretty safe unless you are very careless. Walking through the Swallow Grotto offers good views. A must is always the Changchung Shrine (Eternal Spring Shrine) trail as well as the Shakadang trail at the park entrance. You'll enjoy it if you go there.
