HIGHLIGHTS
  • • Enjoy exclusive access to a picturesque tea plantation selected by our local experts
  • • Participate in a traditional Taiwanese tea ceremony with a tea master
  • • Enjoy a scenic ride over the mountains on the Maokong Gondola
  • • Gain a deeper understanding of authentic Taiwanese tea via your local guide

Get a taste of Taiwan’s ancient tea culture on our full-day, guided tour of two tea growing areas off the beaten path yet just outside of Taipei. First, we'll ascend into the lush Maokong hills via gondola and arrive at the tea farms where your guide will introduce you to revered tea masters. After learning a bit about Taiwan's tea history from both the masters and your knowledgeable guide, we'll attend the first of two tea ceremonies, sampling various types of locally grown, organic teas. Afterwards, we'll head further into the mountains to explore other tea plantations, visiting the beautiful Thousand Island Lake before heading to a second traditional tea house for the afternoon ceremony. Our Tea Culture Tour is a rare opportunity to unwind and familiarize yourself with some of the best teas in the world. Please note: The Maokong Gondola closes in inclement weather. In the event this happens, we'll substitute a scenic drive through the hills of Maokong for the gondola ride.

Yay! Super!
Jaron was super nice and fun! Bought group tour but we were the only ones - private tour! Went extra places not included. Make sure to go when gondola is operating (maintenance in June). Highly recommend!

Great introduction to Taiwanese tea
The Maokong gondola ride and the tea experience to get an introduction to the various types of tea grown in Taiwan was great. The tea ceremony was a particular highlight given the intricate steps involved in making a cup of tea which I hadn’t appreciated before! Overall a great experience, many thanks to our driver as well as our guide Echo whom were both very friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable.

A Perfect Day
I'm not usually the "tour" type of person, but am traveling by myself in Taipei for a short time, and this seemed the best choice to see a little bit of an insiders view. I'm so glad I did!!! I took the Tea Culture tour with Kelly. Everything about it was wonderful. Kelly is a great tour guide--she has a passion for making the tour as personal and interesting as possible. She's so fun to hang out with, by the end of the day she felt like a good friend. The other tour members were also great (I'd never met them before). We definitely got to see Taipei in a way I never could otherwise. We went to areas off the beaten tourist path, and sat down for a tea tasting with Kelly's aunt and cousin at their amazing tea shop. Who would've known the hills just outside of Taipei would be so peaceful and beautiful! Too many highlights to list! I already have 2 more tours booked with MyTaiwanTour. You've got to check them out!

Tea Culture Tour
Alan was the consultant and was very responsive to our many questions prior to the tour. We also arranged transport from the airport to the hotel through them and the driver was very patient with us. Joy was our tour guide, she was wonderful! She took great pictures and videos and sent them to us (having Line or WhatsApp would be useful). Gave us tips for lunch and what each market is known for. Each stop on the tour there was never any pressure to buy stuff (but we did). She was well coordinated with the driver that we never waited very long. The tour van had umbrellas and water in case we needed it. In terms of the tour, the gondola was beautiful. And the museum was very informative. I was not expecting a tea tasting there, but I found our tasting educational regarding the different teas. (Later in the week, we had another tea sampling which was much more rushed than this experience.) We then went to Shenkeng old street for lunch which was extremely crowded but without this tour it’s doubtful we would have made it there (the shops and food are fun, we wish we had more time). The final tea house was an great experience to sit through a tea ceremony in a very relaxing environment and then have one in our party try and master the service. All in all, a very enjoyable experience and something I’m not sure we would have done outside the tour.

Amazing job and Wonderful country
We've had two tours with your company already (the Taipei Afternoon Tour with Ting Li and the Tea Culture Day with Kylie Hung), and they must be one of the best tours we've had. Both tours were very well made and the guides were astoundingly interesting, full of insightful comments, and entertaining. Their English was spot perfect as well, so please congratulate both of them on our behalf for doing such an amazing job. You have a wonderful country, and that was highlighted magnificently by your guides.

Tea Culture Day Tour
We managed to squeeze in the Tea Culture Day Tour during our 18 hour layover in Taipei. We were a party of two with two other guests joining the tour. In the morning the tour started with maokong Gondola ride. Then we visited small tea museum and listened to how the tea is being grown and made and then we tasted about 4 different kinds of tea with commentary about how the tea is being prepared and about the teas as well. Lovely lunch (not included in the price) followed in a nice but affordable restaurant. In the afternoon we got to watch and be part of a tea ceremony. I loved that we were able to purchase the tea we tasted, but no one pushed is into it. The ride was safe and comfortable, our guide Victoria was young, lots of fun, curious and was a lovely companion. I am very happy with our experience and will treasure the memories made during this tour.

THE BEST tour company for Taiwan!!!
I had confirmed this tour 48 hours before the visit since I really wanted to see the tea plantations and experience something different than staying in Taipei City. I'm super glad I booked this tour for my family! I knew that there was a 4 people minimum requirement to start the tour, so I booked it for 4 family members and we were surprisingly the only people on the tour so it ended up to be more like a private tour =) Victoria was our tour guide and she is AWESOME! She is fun, energetic, completely focused on providing the best customer experience (since we were the only ones on the tour, Victoria and the driver David accommodate our request to alter the tour itinerary and spend more time at Thousand Island lake to take pictures). David the driver was also great, the winding mountain roads are no joke, especially since it's quite narrow in most areas and we were in a luxury van, but David expertly navigated the roads with his car and I felt completely safe. My family speaks Mandarin quite well but Victoria was nice enough to translate for me at the tea house in case I didn't understand some of the terms. We never felt rushed at all, everything was planned carefully and orchestrated well. Sure, it would have been cheaper to hire just a driver for the day, but what's the fun in that? We also stopped at Shihding, which was so cool to explore. I definitely recommend this tour company to others. When on vacation, I am willing to pay top dollar for the best experience since my vacation days are precious and limited. This company, tour guide Victoria and driver David definitely went above and beyond and delivered an incredible experience.

A wonderful day with MTT
We had a wonderful day, I wouldn't change a thing- both tea master/teachers were great. Summer was FANTASTIC. She also offered the suggestion for what we could see in Taipei as we had half a day left. She was knowledgeable and caring especially with my young teenagers. And the best part she was so likable and a joy to be around. She is definitely an asset to your tour group and makes you want to come back to Taiwan. Everything was so easy to set up from online, organized and prompt. Loved every minute of this tour. Thank you!!!

User-friendly tour company
This is a really user-friendly tour company, who were simple to book with and replied quickly to my emails. Bill and Kai picked me up from my accommodation. They were really funny, friendly tour guides. I liked how it was quite intimate (just myself and another tourist). The itinerary includes a nice varied selection of things to do. There was a great, relaxed and happy atmosphere. Thank you!

This was my best day in Taiwan
This was my best day in Taiwan. My daughter and I traveled with one other woman and our driver/tour guide, David. The Maokong Gondola was awesome. Then we learned a lot about tea and tasted a lot of tea. We had lunch at a restaurant that featured tea oil in some of the dishes, and it had a wonderful view of the mountains and the gondola. David stopped the car for us to take pictures whenever we asked. It was a relaxing day outside of the hustle and bustle of Taipei.

Thank you My Taiwan Tour
This was an excellent tour. Claire our guide was outstanding. She took the time to get to know everyone on her tour and made some adjustments to the tour itinerary based on the group's travel experience so that the tour was more personalized. We stopped at a tea house that was less crowded by other tours and we were able to learn more about how tea is made and prepared and we were able to enjoy many samples of various teas. Thank you My Taiwan Tour and to Claire for making this a very enjoyable experience.

Great small tour
Great small tour. Driver and tour guide were very good at their job. They went above and beyond to achieve our expectations and have a good visit in Taiwan. Got to see several sites and learned so much, the tea plantations were definitely a highlight for me. So beautiful! Highly recommend this tour.

Gordon is a great guide
Man alive, what a tour. I went because i wanted to see the views of the tea fields from the mountains, but I learned about the wild world of tea, saw a nice temple, went to an interesting shopping area, had some nice noodles, had a gondola adventure, and more. The tour turned out to be a lot more fun and interesting than just tea, we had a great time, Gordon is a great guide, the best.

City trip to Taipei
Our whole day City trip to Taipei was fun and memorable..first, we were driven in a comfortable coach that was clean and well decorated. There were five us of who were in the tour. Our Tour guide Jully Yin and Coach driver Mr. Yu welcomed us so warmly. We have a very informative tour guide and one that speaks english excellently!! We learned a lot of things about Taiwan simply because Jully is well versed with all the information. She only did not give us the history of the places that we went to..she also took most of our photos. She is a good photograher too. She is such a delight to be with. Thank you Jully for making our trip a most enjoyable one. Thank you also Mr. Yu for driving us safely and always coming on time!

Tea culture tour in a day
We booked privately as a group of four from the cruise ship port of Keelung. Helena was our guide. She was the first guide there as we know since she was the only one was saw from our balcony before anyone was allowed to disembark. She is a very sweet and knowledgeable lady. We felt comfortable with her. We paid an upcharge to do this tour all the way from the port and we were glad we did. And no, Taiwan isn't an inexpensive country and neither is this tour. But it was worth it to us to be able to spend the time where we wanted and move on when ready. We all enjoyed the tea culture promotional center. The museum was interesting and the couple who own the center sat down and enjoyed tea with us. This was a highlight of our day. It was a relaxed atmosphere where we learned a lot about tea. There is nothing stuffy about enjoying tea in China and Taiwan. It's friendly and sociable. There were so many unique tea pots and tiny cups. We just had to buy one here. It's one of the nicest things we bought during out whole trip. There are many places to buy tea but we felt confident in the quality of the tea here so bought some to go with our pot. The gondola trip was nice and scenic. We could see the Taipei 101 building from the air. We went to a pedestrian street in an old part of the town that was very interesting with so many different kinds of shops. We also ate lunch here and had some local food including one of the chickens you'll see hanging around that look like rubber chickens. No "stinky tofu" for us although I would have liked to try it in hindsight. Since it was only our group of 4 and my husband wanted to find a Taiwan flag, we had time and were driven into Taipei right beside the Taiwan 101 building which wasn't on our list of sights for this tour. It was pouring rain by now but we enjoyed seeing the building up close through the rain. We saw tea plantations, beautiful scenery, interesting bathrooms, local people and just thoroughly enjoyed our day. Helena is a nice and reliable tour guide. I feel confident recommending this company.

Excellent Service
“Excellent Service” 5 of 5 starsReviewed May 23, 2015 We are so glad we chose the Tea Culture Day tour. The beautiful Thousand Island Lake is just beyond description. The rain does not deter us from enjoy the breathtaking view in front of us. Also, our tour guide is enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He took us to the place that fewer tourists would go before the tour ended. To sum up, I cannot speak highly enough of MyTaiwanTour Service. You guys really made my stay in Taiwan worthwhile. I will definitely have a tour with MyTaiwanTour next time I visit Taipei City.

We want to go back and explore more of Taiwan!
My wife, 6-month old daughter and I extremely enjoyed our visit to Taiwan since we had a great adventure with our tour guide Jett Lai with My Taiwan Tours. We got to visit various places (tea plantation, ultimate Taipei, and Jiufen - mountain town and waterfalls tours) and had a great time. And our baby did not get sick since our tour guide was always accommodating to our needs and keeping the tour flexible so the baby does not get too fussy or tired. We want to go back and explore more of Taiwan!
